Our commitment to the Armed Forces community

Armed Forces Covenant

On 9 December, Fintan Slye, Chief Executive, signed the Armed Forces Covenant, on behalf of NESO. The Armed Forces Covenant is a voluntary pledge to support the welfare, employment and education of the armed forces community and their families.

The Armed Forces Covenant symbolises a national commitment to ensuring that those who serve or have served, along with their families, receive fair treatment. All 407 local authorities in mainland Great Britain and four councils in Northern Ireland have pledged to support the Armed Forces Covenant. Thousands of organisations, including businesses and charities, have also signed this important covenant.

By signing this pledge, NESO aligns itself with over 10,000 organizations from various sectors such as education, manufacturing, charity, hospitality, retail, and financial services, all dedicated to ensuring equitable treatment for veterans, active service members, reservists, and their families.

During the signing event, members of the Armed Forces community took part in a panel discussion to share their experiences and highlight the significance of supporting the Armed Forces Covenant. Panellists included Lieutenant Colonel Duncan Southall, Sub Lieutenant Laura Harpham, Sergeant Stephen Plenderleith, Carl Bilboe and Brit Pickering.

The event was witnessed by members of our SeRVe Employee Resource Group, a network created for veterans, reservists, cadet leaders and their spouses here at NESO.
