We have a long history of making sure electricity flows safely, reliably and affordably from where it is generated to where it is needed. NESO will continue to ensure that supply and demand are mutually balanced every second of the day across the whole system. We will find improved ways for all parts of the gas, hydrogen and electricity systems to work together to support the needs of the overall system, whether that’s through actions by those producing, using or storing energy.
Different ways to generate, store, use and move energy are increasingly available. This provides NESO with more options to ensure that supply and demand are mutually balanced and to move Great Britain towards its goal of zero-carbon electricity operations in the 2030s.
We will accelerate progress towards a fully net zero electricity system, in the most efficient and cost-effective way. We will deliver this by taking an increasingly whole system approach, considering how we can use existing and emerging energy sources, delivering excellent service to our customers. We will do this whilst maintaining a reliable and secure energy supply for GB.
