Established expertise, new beginnings
NESO will be built upon our previous experience as the Electricity System Operator (ESO). As ESO, we had extensive expertise in balancing electricity supply and demand 24/7 without interruption, whilst making sure the networks we operated and the markets we served were prepared for the future.
Our new role as NESO expands beyond electricity to take a whole system view, inclusive of all energy sources and uses. We bring together new capabilities, innovative ways of working, new partnerships and fresh perspectives to deliver this wider remit and create national value.
