Our culture to accelerate Britain’s energy transition
19 Nov 2024 - 2 minute read
As part of our ongoing commitment to improve the connections process we recently launched our five-point plan to address the current connections challenges in Great Britain.
Through the plan, we are putting in place new processes to speed up connections and enable proactive management of the queue. This will support the delivery of achieving net zero and decarbonisation of the electricity system.
We’re developing these processes in co-ordination with the Energy Networks Association’s Strategic Connection Group to ensure whole system solutions that work for all parties.
To improve the connections queue, we’re now seeking views from customers on two areas:
1. Expression of interest – bringing forward connection dates
2. Expression of interest for non-firm (restricted access) connection offers, particularly for storage projects
You can read the full details in our recent industry letter.
It's essential that we hear your feedback, so we can deliver improvements
04 May 2023 - Update
We had a fantastic response to our Expression of Interest opportunity, so thank you to everyone who’s taken part.
To make sure no one misses out, we’ve decided to extend the deadline for those of you interested in bringing forward connection dates and/or non-firm connection offers to Monday 15 May 2023.
This will be your last chance to participate, so don't miss out on this final opportunity!
Please note that the ESO and the relevant TO's will only be taking any customers who have applied under the EOI into consideration to have an accelerated connection date. So please do ensure that if you are interested in understanding what connection date could be offered then complete the EOI form for your project.
We remain committed to reforming the connections process with the immediate initiatives as part of our five point plan as well as for the longer term in collaboration with the whole industry.
