Read our latest Digitalisation Strategy and Action Plan (DSAP) to find out how we’re leveraging digital technology and innovation to lead the energy sector towards a sustainable future.
To achieve clean power by 2030 and net zero by 2050, we need to adopt a whole system approach that encourages innovation and collaboration across the industry. The industry is undergoing a rapid transformation with decarbonisation, affordability and security of supply at the forefront of our priorities. At NESO, we’re at the heart of this evolution to ensure a cleaner and more secure future for everyone.
Our DSAP sets out our strategic ambitions and action plans, demonstrating our expanded roles across electricity, gas and hydrogen in the energy sector. By leveraging emerging technologies, harmonising data standards and maximising the value of data, we aim to foster innovation and collaboration, creating a more interconnected and efficient energy network that benefits everyone.
We’ll invest in both traditional and generative AI (Gen AI) solutions to accelerate the deployment of new technologies both internally and externally to enhance customer outcomes. We’re also engaging closely with Ofgem on AI initiatives, which include building an AI cost-benefit analysis for the industry.
Our strategy is founded on principles such as future technology, data and AI, agility, customer focus, digital leadership, and security.
By embedding AI and data analysis in our core operations, we’ll leverage data to optimise our operations and enhance efficiency, while good architectural designs in our digital transformation work will ensure secure infrastructure and system reliability.
By embedding digital solutions into all aspects of our operations, we’ll position ourselves as digital leaders in the energy sector.
The strategy puts customers first in everything we do, ensuring we work closely together to build the industry’s digitalisation journey, acknowledging that achieving decarbonisation goals will require a collective effort from all.
The DSAP is guided by our six strategic priorities and coincides with the consultation of our Business Plan 3 (BP3) submission.
Customer feedback has been integral to creating this strategy, which has been built from comprehensive engagement with our customer groups.
Through the development of our BP3, we’ve gathered feedback on performance incentives and business plan requirements to ensure our digital initiatives align with customer expectations. This has helped us prioritise the right investments.
We’ve also incorporated feedback received following the publication of our Clean Power 2030 plan and external engagement with Ofgem.
Our strategy brings together all these views along with additional crosscutting work that aligns our digital initiatives with customer expectations.
