Improvements to embedded wind forecasting on Carbon Intensity App

As part of its commitment to continuous improvement, National Grid ESO has enhanced the way it models embedded wind on its Carbon Intensity App.

The quality of the information taken from the European electricity interconnectors has also been improved.

The challenge of accurately modelling embedded wind – generation connected at distribution rather than transmission level – is faced by system operators and energy organisations all over the world.

The new methodology will be applied to current and historic data, and as a result some historic records will change, generally in the order of .1%.
